'Skill Circuit' again today
Skill Circuit is when we are trained in teaching all the skills needed for e.g. a Scuba refresher. So all afternoon we were practicing to teach e.g. equipment setup, removal of weight belt under water, mask removal, fin pivot, hovering and around 10 other skills. I did the mask removal around 10+ times just to practice - this is one of my hard skills; when I am not wearing a mask, water moves from my nose into my mouth and it makes it harder for me to breathe. I was told that this problem is probably because I have big 'airways' (big nose? :-). However these large airways also helps me a lot when diving. Many people have serious problems equalising their ears when they go down in the water (some people use 10 minutes or more for the first 10 meters; after that it usually gets easier). I have absolutely no problems at all equalising; I can go down to 30 meters in one minute if I want to. But the mask removal thing I just hate. But I need to be able to teach it, and when teaching divers the clue is to make everything look very easy - especially when under water, and that is why I am practicing (even though it probably never will be easy for me :-).
