Finally a day to relax

After a full month with full speed and 'home work' until very late every evening, today has been a quiet day for me. I could have gone diving, but chose not to. And I enjoyed it very much.
So I have been relaxing, enjoying the quiet remote island life and looking at my budget.

So if you ever wondered where the money 'goes' on a one year diving 'holiday', here are some figures:
Total price for 1 year is around 250.000 Danish Kroner (or around 33k Euro, but not too happy about the direction the Euro has these days; that makes things quite a lot more expensive here).
Since I still have apartment, summer cottage and loads of insurances in Denmark, around 15% goes to Denmark.
Another 15% will go to actual traveling (airplanes, stop-over hotels, coming home for the best music festival in Scandinavia etc).
Around 25% will go to food and drinks.
Around 20% goes to hotels and other (cheap) accommodation (but of course this depends on my future travel plans; some countries like Australia are MUCH more expensive).
Diving education, dive equipment and diving will be around 15%.
And finally I imagine around 10% will go to a good Thai Massage, a nice party once in a while, Nicotine chewing gum and other 'unplanned initiatives' etc. A very good thing around here is that it does not cost much to be impulsive. An impulsive and unplanned evening in Denmark with a super-meal and a few beers or a good red wine would most likely cost me around 1000 DKK, but here it would cost me less than 100 :-)

So, if you have the dream like I had, you now know approximately what it costs per year :-).
And you are ALL very welcome to join me. In less than a weeks time I may even be able to teach you how to dive - if all goes well. And if you 'behave' I may want to give you a discount :-).
Cheers from my last night in Perhentian Islands.
