The story of my drivers license...

If you have been following my blog then you would know that I got robbed on open street in Bangkok in October last year. I had my computer stolen, my entire music collections, my dive computer, both my credit cards and a lot more things. This was pretty bad. What I did not expect was problems with my drivers license which was also stolen. However, since I used to live in Germany for some years, I had (at that time) to replace my Danish drivers license with a german one. Last friday when I came back I went to apply for a new (Danish) drivers license, just to find out that it was maculated and all information (almost) was lost. So, I could under no circumstances get my drivers license back. So today, when the German officies opened again, I used 4 hours on the phone with around 20 people in Germany trying to find SOMEONE in Germany that knew that I actually HAS a drivers license and I also (after long long time) manmaged to convince them to send the information to Danish authorities (the really scary thing was that they said that everything about drivers licenses required that you show up yourself, and MANY of the persons I talk to today insisted on that). Which would mean going to Munich just to 'prove' that I can still drive a car. And the waiting time for the documents they said was 2-3 weeks. I could not see myself spending 2-3 very expensive weeks in Munich, so I considered taking an entire NEW drivers license.
However, as mentioned, I managed to find ONE collaborative person in the many officies I called, and he faxed the information to the danish authorities.
I was thinking that the worst part of my robbery (with personal injuries, loosing EVERYTHING including money to get to my hotel) was over, but no. Danish authorities can be SO bitchy also. But now I am happy. I have a (temporary) drivers license again, and they will send me a real one after 4-6 weeks (which MAY be AFTER I leave Denmark, but who cares). The funny thing is: Most stories (and movies) DO end with happy endings. But the way to the happy ending can be damn hard ;o)
