Classroom Teaching Passed today

Today I passed my classroom training, with very high grades (quite a bit above the level of the highest instructor level!). And the highest grade that the mentors ever gave. used powerpoint with animations again; this time the subject was 'The Ascent'; getting up from the dive. And of course I used small animated gif divers swimming slowly to the surface etc :-). One of the instructors even mentioned the potential of me updating all the educational material for Big Blue (= potential job). And another instructor asked if she could use my material :-). As mentioned earlier, all instructors today draw whiteboards for almost every new group of dive students. And for every single subject. Using a computer allows re-use of material - and of course it allows for much more interactive ways of showing how and what to do underwater (or more interactive ways of showing what happens inside your body etc). And getting a job with Big Blue is not that easy. It is one of the places in the world (!) educating most Diver Masters and Dive Cons, so I saw that 'small opening' for a job opportunity as a big cadeaux. But let us see what Big Blue wants when we get there - and what I want :-). I am in no desperate situation for a job, but I just liked the very positive feedback. I might never become the the most advanced diver, but I have some other skills that are found very useful also. Great! :-). Some of the other Dive Master Trainees love all the 'Tech Diving' (deep diving (up to 60 meters!), wreck diving, Re-breathers, Cave diving etc). I am probably more the type that likes improving on how to teach, and of course become very good diver to lead customers on dives. I also love the Fish Identification part which I might try to use 'professionally' later on also (see e.g. my earlier blog entry on my 'Fish Quiz'. But we are all different, and it seems that there is room for many different types of dive professionals. As long as you show professional skills in one or the other way.
Greetings from another happy day at Koh Tao
