Passed a mid-point exam...

Greetings from a beach cafe. To become a PADI Dive Instructor you also need to be a 'Emergency First Response' instructor (First Aid Instructor, Danish: Førstehjælpsinstruktør), and yesterday I took the exam for that part. So now I am officially an instructor in First Aid, and can teach these skills everywhere in the world (this part is not related directly to diving, but is seen as essential in diving situations). Today we went back to the core parts of becoming Dive Instructor, by training how to do the 'Discover Scuba Diving'. Discover Scuba Diving is offered to people who just wants to get a 'taste' of diving, even before they go on the 'real' courses like becoming an open water diver (the Discover Scuba Diving is typically used for Bachelor parties etc in Scandinavia). A very fun day, especially since we took turns as being instructor and the rest then tried to act like you were diving for the first time; we were laughing a lot being upside down, scratching over the sand bottom or floating to the surface - as it is actually quite common the first time you try diving. The first 'problem' many people experience the first time diving is the 'third dimension'; how do you control up and down? On the ground we 'mainly use two dimensions only.
Tomorrow we continue our hectic but fun course with teaching skills in 'Open Water'. Open Water is (generally) everything below 5 meters depth. And hence - especially for students on their first dive course - slightly more 'scary' than sitting in a swimming pool where you can stand up and get above water if you need to.
Today's photos are from the fun day today; showing some photos from the short boat ride, showing our 'Instructor Trainer' Azman teaching us a typical method for performing skills at 5+ meters (Open Water) etc
