I have now booked airplane tickets and hotel for China again, leaving the 1st December. It will be very cold for me there, I have just adjusted to the 30-35 degrees which is now normal in Bangkok (this time of year is very warm in Thailand). And Beijing is -5 to +5 degrees.... And I am bringing 4 pairs of short pants and only one pair of long pants....
Today's photos are from inner Bangkok where they are still not sure if the flooding will hit (noone seems to be sure these days - people are on their own initiative breaking down barriers to protect their own homes, but this may flood inner Bangkok instead). Let us just say it is pretty chaotic, and that noone seems to know what will really happen. And let us hope that there will be no outbreaks of serious water-born diseases which many (international) health organisations say will happen very likely, but where the Thai authorities say "it is all in control". Thailand authorities would never admit such a risk because it would mean stopping the flow of tourists (=money)... I am also sure that the current temperatures in Bangkok will not help the situation... You can read a number of foreign ministries from different countries saying that "Only go if really, really needed" and then you can find official Thailand Tourist agency saying "It is so so safe"..... Ok, admitted, most of the southern and most visited tourist places (Phuket, Krabi, Samui) are not affected at all. But saying that Thailand in general is SAFE now????
