Back in Bangkok again...

I am sure that I have used this headline before, "Back in Bangkok", but this is also the 14th time that I come to Bangkok within the last almost 2 years.
It seems to be a place I come back to again and again ;o)

The last few days in Beijing, I was playing 'tourist', but that was incredibly hard. I wanted to go the central area near the forbidden city, so I took a subway. Just to find out that it was basically impossible to change subway train because the trains were so full that a person with a small bag would not fit in. Never. So I walked to around 5 kilometers in totally freezing cold Beijing until I could not feel my feet or fingers anymore, trying to find a taxi. But with no luck. Beijing has decided to reduce the amount of taxis to force people to buy more cars - to keep the economy rolling. With the result that you as a tourist will have to wait - or walk - for around 5 kilometers in a minus 5 degrees temperature with extreme heavy wind to get a taxi (walking is better to keep yourself a little bit warm). Even with your warmest winter clothes you feel that you are close to dying due to this stupid decision.... After 1 hour walking I then ended up waiting 40 minutes for a taxi at one of the main shopping centers - where they have an organized taxi queue (the problem is that getting a taxi is a total anarchy, so people will forcibly push you to get into a free taxi, so I walked 5 km to a place with an organized taxi queue).
Anyway, after around 2 hours in the coldest weather I have tried in my life, I managed to get a taxi.
So after 5 hours I returned to my warm hotel room. Without even getting to the place I wanted to go.
So this time I am so so happy to be back in the warm Bangkok. So "Back in Bangkok" is special this time....

The photos are mainly from leaving Beijing
